• What happens if I cancel my subscription?

  Your Hilo subscription is required to use your Hilo Band and access your blood pressure data.

  If you cancel:

  You’ll have 30 days of limited access (last 24 hours of data only)
  After 30 days, the band will no longer function
  You can reactivate anytime by renewing your subscription

  Your Hilo Band is yours to keep, and all your historical data remains securely stored. Simply renew to regain full access.

• Can I buy the device without subscription?

  No. Hilo subscription is required to use the Hilo Band. The technology depends on cloud-based algorithms and ongoing software updates that are integral to delivering medical-grade accuracy.

  Your subscription includes the device, the app, continuous monitoring, and all features — making blood pressure management simple and affordable.

• How does it work?

  Hilo is a subscription service that provides 24/7, cuffless blood pressure monitoring using a clinically validated, CE-marked Class IIa medical device.
  The service includes two core components that work together to measure, track, and display your cardiovascular data:

  1. Hilo Band

  The Hilo Band is a wearable device that uses optical sensors (photoplethysmography, or PPG) to detect signals from your wrist. It calculates your blood pressure using Pulse Wave Analysis (PWA) after a calibration with the Hilo Cuff, which is required once every 30 days.

  The band automatically measures your blood pressure and heart rate around 25 times per day, without requiring any interaction.
  It emits no lights or alerts, is comfortable, and is designed for continuous wear, including during sleep.

  2. Hilo App

  The Hilo App syncs with your Hilo Band and gives you access to your health data. It displays how your blood pressure changes throughout the day and night, highlighting trends related to activity, meals, stress, sleep, and medication.

  You can also share reports directly from the app with your doctor or family to your doctor about your results and never rely solely on this device for health decisions.

• How accurate is it?

  The Hilo Band is not a simple consumer wearable device. The Hilo Band is a CE Marked Class IIa medical device that has undergone extensive and thorough clinical validation. 

  Aktiia’s technology powers Hilo and is based on 20 years of research and over 100K users.

  While developing the technology used in the Hilo Band, two clinical trials have been conducted that have demonstrated that its accuracy is comparable to that of a regular cuff that you would place on your upper arm. In particular, our medical device has been validated in patients representing the general population, according to the ISO-81060-2 international standard.

  Hilo :

  The Hilo Band is NOT INTENDED to be used:

  • On patients suffering from sustained cardiac arrhythmias that can lead to weak or unstable pressure pulses including resting tachycardia (heart rate at rest > 120bpm) and atrial fibrillation; 

  • On patients suffering from pathologies that systematically reduce peripheral perfusion including Raynaud’s disease, diabetes, renal dysfunctions (eGFR < 60mL / min / 1.73 m2), hyper-/ hypothyroidism, pheochromocytoma, or arteriovenous fistula; 

  • On pregnant women; 

  • On damaged/injured skin

  • On patients below 21 years old and above 85 years old

   

  Additionally, Hilo Cuff is NOT INTENDED to be used: 

  • On patients with implanted electrical devices, such as cardiac pacemakers or defibrillators. 

  • On neonatal patients, children, patients with pre-eclampsia, premature ventricular beats, atrial fibrillation, peripheral arterial disease, and patients undergoing intravascular therapy or arterio-venous shunt, or people who have received a mastectomy.

  • By any person who is pregnant or may possibly be pregnant. 

   

  Hilo Phone measurements (Hilo App) :

   Hilo Phone measurements is NOT INTENDED to be used: 

  • On patients suffering from sustained cardiac arrhythmias that can lead to weak or unstable pressure pulses including resting tachycardia (heart rate at rest > 120bpm) and atrial fibrillation; 

  • On patients suffering from pathologies that systematically reduce peripheral perfusion including Raynaud’s disease, diabetes, renal dysfunctions (eGFR < 30mL / min / 1.73 m2), untreated hyper-/ hypothyroidism, pheochromocytoma, or arteriovenous fistula; 

  • On pregnant women; 

  • Amputated upper limb.

  • On patients below 21 years old and above 85 years old

  • On patients suffering from polyneuropathy; 

  • Amputated index fingers; 

  The range of morphometric data variables for Hilo Phone Measurement Feature (Hilo App) is:

  • on patients below 45 kg (99 lb) and above 300 kg (661 lb); 

  • on patients below 130 cm (~4.3 ft) and above 250 cm (~8.2 ft)
